Why frying is an operation that includes: pans that must not have scratches or the non-stick ruined, otherwise the fried stick.
Because there is no need for oil in abundance that must reach the right temperature.
So that the food does not develop carcinogens and is not slightly crunchy or too crisp.
There are no unpleasant smells that spread throughout the house and oil that splashes everywhere.
With the fryer you eliminate:
- The problem for odors.
- Greasy splashes.
- Liters and liters of oil.
And on the other hand you get a homogeneous, crispy, healthier and easier to prepare fried.
Thanks to the thermostats that allow us to check the temperature, timers and rotating baskets, as we will see below.
Using a deep fryer is not complicated.
You must follow the instructions correctly and clean it in all its parts after each use, always with the plug disconnected.
How to choose the right fryer?
So if we decided to buy a deep fryer, we need some advice to buy the best and the most suitable for our needs.
If we have a large kitchen we cannot pose the problem.
But if we have space problems instead we opt for a fryer that is taller than large.
Not too heavy that we can easily move or that in alternative has a fairly long cable.
It must be a resistant appliance so we prefer steel ones instead of plastic ones and that of course we have the non-stick basket.
Check that the lid has a large porthole and that there is an odor filter.
We also prefer a rectangular basket, which is more comfortable and which must in any case have practical anti-burn handles.
Also check that the parts that come into contact with food are non-stick or chromed steel.
We prefer a deep fryer that has a thermostat, maybe even a timer that warns us when the frying is finished.
The Cool touch function (the walls remain cold even if it is running).
Especially if we have children, a rotating basket that allow the food to be submerged in oil so as to have a homogeneous frying.
Not all fryers then need oil, the latest generation ones in fact use hot air.
So we prefer the models with on / off buttons and automatic opening and closing buttons.
So that you don’t have to touch the operating fryer or the power plug.
The appliance must also be equipped with indicator lights or displays that warn us when the oil has reached the right temperature.
Make sure that all the parts that are used in the frying process are removable and washable.
The fryer has a special tray to remove the used oil or a tap or in any case a drain system.
Finally, make sure that it has a “cold zone” in which slags and impurities are deposited.
The “wattage” factor is very important.
Clearly the higher the watts and the more it will consume current.
But the more powerful the ability to heat and therefore to obtain a higher quality fried food.
Tips for using and buying a deep fryer
Of course, a deep fryer costs and consumes.
So let’s buy it only if we really need it.
Avoid it if we are only in pairs and we are not used to numerous dinner guests.
And if of course we are not used to eating fried foods, of which we still recommend moderate consumption.
We use, in which case it is needed, olive oil which makes frying lighter.
We absolutely do not mix different oils; do not fill the deep fryer beyond its capacity.
Do not put the food first in the basket and then in the oil but insert it with the basket already inside.
We should also remember to change the filters often, especially the odor filter.
